Biomass Heating System

Biomass Boiler

Installation of 26 kW Condensing Pellet boiler, Nr. Grassington.

The customer previously used a combination of Electric storage heaters and a multi-fuel stove with a boiler to provide heating and hot water demand. These are both expensive and inefficient.

The customer had described how the space heating was never sufficient for the property. The appliance and fuel were chosen to suit the property as well as the customers specific requirements.

We installed a Grant Spira 6-26kW condensing boiler which modulates to give only the required heat output. The fuel is wood pellets which are delivered to site in 10/15kg bags by the tonne. The wood pellets are stored in the boiler room ready to be manually loaded.

The boiler stores 6-7 bags in its integrated hopper and automatically feeds its self when necessary. It will use a bag a day in the winter months and approx. one bag every 3-4 days in the summer.

Since all the energy used for heating and hot water at the property is now supplied by a renewable fuel, the installation is eligible for the RHI Scheme which will exceed the capital cost of the project.

The carbon footprint of the property and its inhabitants has been significantly reduced as the efficiency of the heating system is dramatically improved. The property is now supplied with adequate heat, automatically for the first time in the 25+ years our customer has lived there.

Another happy customer…
